Welcome!  We built this basic website to show the photos of 59 Laurel and explain why the home and neighborhood are so special.  To navigate, simply continue scrolling downward.  For more information (there's lots more!)  please don't hesitate to call us at 570-five-five-zero-2279.

The View from the House: The photo above was taken on the roof deck of the house.  Use the home as it is, and enjoy this incredible view from the top deck.  If you choose to build a new home, the photo above shows what your view will be from every window of your first floor, and your first floor deck.
Picture
The Home: The home is approximately 1500 square feet, has 4 small bedrooms, 2 full baths, an open great room, a renovated kitchen, and an incredible outdoor shower.  It is reasonably well-maintained and recently renovated- in 2016 it got a new rubber roof, and in 2020 it's getting new Andersen Series 400 windows.  Each room has an air-conditioner and the house is fully furnished.  It comes with a full set of architectural plans for an over 4000sf house that was custom-designed for the site by legendary Fire Island home designer Joel Silverberg.

High and Dry: 59 Laurel didn't get a drop of water in Superstorm Sandy: it's located in a very safe location, and still has it's pre-Sandy dune protecting it.  Laurel is also known for always having one of the widest beaches on Fire Island.  Any new home would be designed to FEMA standards with 35 foot poles that descend 25 feet into the sand - - this will raise the first floor at least 10 feet higher than it is today, giving you complete ocean views on the first floor and making your new home very, very safe against future storms.
Picture
Incredibly private:  The beach in front of 59 Laurel is usually empty - in fact it is very rare that it even has more than 4 people on it - even on Labor Day and 4th of July weekends.  This is because (as you can see on the photo above) Laurel Walk includes Seaview's ball field, tennis courts, and community playground, and many Laurel Walk residents have pools so they don't visit the beach.  (To see the home on the satellite photo above, look at "Laurel Ave" and, as you're looking at the ocean, 59 Laurel is oceanfront on your right hand side)

Enjoy the home for a few years as-is, then build your dream house when you're ready: You may choose to enjoy the house as-is for a few years while you plan your next step, or you may want to build a new home on the site immediately.  Seaview oceanfronts are generally passed from generation to generation and do not come on the market - this is your rare opportunity to reserve yours.

What you can build: Included with the home are a set of plans for a new 4000sf+ home on the site.  Your new home will be on 35 foot stilts that descend 25 feet into the ground.  Because the home is in Brookhaven, you can build a large, 2.5 story home with a 2100sf footprint: that's over 4000 square feet!  Also, you will benefit by Brookhaven's much-lower taxes than Islip.  Each window on the South side of the house will have a wide-open ocean view!

Do you have kids or grandkids?  They will LOVE walking to the exclusive playground and pool, which is only a half-block walk away, also on Laurel Street.

Why Fire Island?
Fire Island National Seashore is one of the most pristine beaches in the world, and it's less than 60 miles from Manhattan.  It's a lot closer and easier to get to than the Hamptons (not to mention... more casual and a lot less pretentious!).  There's easy access to Fire Island by the Long Island Railroad, and 10 vans per day to and from Manhattan via David's Taxi.  If you drive, there's easy valet parking at the ferry dock.  No cars are allowed on Fire Island, so the only traffic you and your kids need to worry about is bike traffic!  Fire Island residents live among deer and bike or walk from place to place.  Most of all: it's an incredibly relaxed and idyllic environment that you must experience for yourself to understand.

Why Seaview?  Each community on Fire Island has a distinct reputation and personality.  For example, Ocean Bay Park is known for it's younger crowd, Point o' Woods is known for it's exclusivity, and Cherry Grove and the Pines are known for it's vibrant LBGT community.  Seaview is the most family-friendly community on Fire Island.  An oceanfront home becomes available in Seaview only once every 5 or 10 years. . . this is indeed a special opportunity.  To learn more about Seaview, visit the Seaview Association website: seaviewfireisland.com.
